Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall and Park

It's hard to believe, but it's been a month since we arrived in Taiwan! Things are going well for us here. We feel more and more comfortable teaching English each day, and are starting to connect with our students (a.k.a. they are starting to laugh at my jokes).

Taipei has been giving Wes a run for his money in terms of food poisoning and the flu, but he will hopefully be feeling better soon. He's quite a trooper teaching with almost no voice.

While he was teaching his ferocious Thursday afternoon class today, I took a trip to Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. Here are some photos:

Entrance to Taiwan's Democracy Hall (Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall).

Inside the CKS Memorial Hall.

Obligatory self-portrait.

The entrance to the Hall.

Walking towards the Memorial Park.

Fish food for the enormous koi fish.

Turtles!

There was so much incredible wildlife at the park. I saw all types of cranes, turtles, fish, and of course squirrels.

Mmmmmmm . . .

So people have been asking about what is different here in Taipei, and here is what comes to mind first . . .

1. You take your garbage out daily. When you take it out, it isn't to a dumpster or the sidewalk. You actually wait to hear the garbage truck and then go out to the street to hand your garbage to the garbage man. You hear the truck because it plays music, much like an ice cream man . . . There is something really funny about this to me.

Okay, that's all for now. We send you our love!

Oh Randis! I giggled at the thought of the garbage man in an ice cream man's costume - you will have to record the sound so us in the states can hear the joyous trashy sound.

Love your adventures, am excited to read more!
